Design scheme for living room

How to create a design scheme for your living room

Laura Bellamy Tips and Advice

Creating a luxury space within your home that’s unique to you and your family is an exciting task and one which should be thought out thoroughly.

Getting it right includes considering many factors which you may not have thought about, so we’re here to give you a helping hand with a list of things you can do to create the perfect design scheme for your living room.

Our biggest advice here would be to create a mood board and include sections for the elements below.

Colours

So, let’s start with a little colour as this will be one of the most important factors you choose as it will set your style for the room completely.

While a neutral colour scheme will provide you with a blank canvas, there is a lot to be said for introducing colours in other ways. Particularly if you are buying a new build, you may be stuck with a neutral colour scheme but if you are re-decorating it may be worth considering this route.

Soft furnishings such as cushions and curtains can go a long way when adding a bold colour such as yellows and teal and you can add these colours in to reflect your personality.

Make sure you pick your colours carefully. Pinterest is the best place to do research!

Flooring

At Brookside we offer a range of alternative flooring which includes carpets, natural flooring and luxury vinyl flooring.

Carpets are a great way to include your own personal stamp and style into your living room. With an array of designs and colours to choose from at Brookside you’ll find something to suit you.

Natural flooring is a great option which will add a traditional yet, unique look to any home. Aside from natural flooring being beautiful in appearance it is also extremely durable and perfect for someone looking to add a rustic feel to any home.

We also offer an alternative flooring to wood or ceramic with our Amtico and Karndean luxury vinyl tiles. This is the perfect way to get a traditional but classy look while adding some real luxury into your home. This is also the perfect way to introduce a contemporary rug into your living space.

Picking your flooring has to be one of the most important jobs as everything else has to fit with it so make sure when drawing up your mood board you include all options.

Wallpaper

Will you include wallpaper into you home? If you do we’d definitely advise adding it to a blank canvas by having a feature wall within your home. Feature walls usually look best on a back wall behind your sofa with the TV placed on the opposite side of the room.

Whether you’re looking to make a statement or to add a classic wallpaper within your whole room Brookside offers an extensive range of options for you to choose from.
