Creating style with rugs and runners

Laura Bellamy Trends

Rugs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes with a vast range of colours and patterns to choose from which is why they are a perfect way to add some stylish character to your home.

While there is a stylish element to rugs and runners they also come alongside a host of benefits including helping to absorb sound on hard flooring, covering up stains on carpets, warming your feet in those colder months and believe it or not, they have been known to have a counter effect on allergens in the home.

Whatever your reason for buying a rug and aside from there being so many advantages that go above and beyond style, one of the main reasons we decide to purchase a rug is to add an element to our home that adds both style and comfort.

We’ve come up with some handy tips on what to look for when buying your rug and making it look great in your home.

Quirky styles

Are in and we just love to add them to almost any room with a hard floor which is crying out for a little character. Our rugs are a mix of modern styles with natural fibres like sisals and our very own wool collection explore texture, design while bringing in a range of colours to make them stand out from the crowd. They do add a wow feature into your home and above everything else this is definitely a bonus when you buy a rug or runner.

Traditional and contemporary rugs

If you prefer a more traditional look to your interiors and your home boasts class and elegance – use definitive patterns and colours which suit your very own taste. The key here is to use a colour which doesn’t contrast too much with the other layers of colour within your home – for example use creams, light earthy browns and burnt orange to really complement each other without going to overboard.

Go contemporary

Achieve the perfect contemporary look with the use of light, earthy, pastel colours alongside block shapes and modern lines which will add a touch of Scandinavian style to your home which is all the rage right now!

Scandi chic has been on trend now for some time and it’s not too late to join the band wagon as this is a style set to be around for a long time…
